How can you bring together as many visitors as possible under the name of art and put flesh on the bones of the local cultural scene? Art Weekend Nuremberg demonstrated how: approx. 3,000 visitors joined 23 participants in Nuremberg and Erlangen; the Art Weekend Website reached 13,000 hits within 7 days.
The Opening
The whole of Nuremberg’s cultural landscape presented itself during the opening ceremony of the 2nd Art Weekend Nuremberg on Friday, October 6th.
200 invited guests were present under the aegis of Dr. Markus Söder at the Heimatministerium when Dr. Eva-Christina Kraus (Director of the Neues Museum Nuremberg) opened the weekend of Nuremberg’s public sector entities and galleries for the arts. The welcoming speech of Prof. Dr. Julia Lehner (Cultural Advisor of the City of Nuremberg) rounded off the evening.

Quoting Participants
Bunsen Goetz Galerie with Sculptures by Artist Stefan Schindler: “We were happy to be part of Art Weekend Nuremberg again and realized that there were way more visitors this year than in the year before. Which might well be related to the corporate opening ceremony at Heimatministerium. We see a lot of potential for growth in the years to come.”
Galerie Landskron Schneidzik: “Art Weekend Nuremberg was a huge success for us, we had brilliant visitor feedback. Our guests were thrilled about the invitation for the opening ceremony, they thought of the Sculpture Garden as a huge gain for the event. At the start, we opened the exhibition ‘Dunkle Materie – Anmerkung zum großen Rasenstück’ with paintings by Artist Ottmar Hörl.”
Galerie VON&VON: “In the 2nd year, too, our expectations were exceeded many times over.”
